Today Railports are to be found in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy. The network continues to be extended, with new locations being added both in Germany and abroad. The main emphasis in the immediate future is on covering the main north-south and east-west axes.

At all times the system depends on Railion's single freight car network in Germany, from where regular scheduled shuttle services travel to the Railports abroad. These provide very rapid turnaround times, including the possibility of the freight cars being systematically reloaded for the return trip. Both aspects make a definitive contribution to the economy and reliability of Railport logistics.
