Pan-European automotive logistics
Cars like traveling by rail
skip: Cars like traveling by railWhen it comes to automotive logistics, Railion relies on the services of strong specialist partners in the Deutsche Bahn Group. The logistics of SAR GmbH is behind at least every other car that is produced in Europe.
A continuous flow of materials, reliable transport and just-in-time delivery are the key factors for the company's success in the automotive industry. Cross-corporate coordination of the value creation chains, and intensive communication between all those involved in the process, are particularly important here.
Schenker also offers additional services, from the conception of complete transport chains right through to their realization - both for car components and for complete vehicles.
Schenker's automotive logistics is divided into four business units:
- SAR GmbH is responsible for rail-based transport logistics, both for car production and for spare parts. This involves in particular the management of customer-specific supply deliveries and inter-plant shipments. The company has customized equipment available for the purpose, as well as a just-in-time logistics network of trains.
- ATG Autotransportlogistic GmbH is the biggest European supplier for rail-based vehicle transport, and offers automotive manufacturers and their distribution partners all-round logistics solutions extending as far as pan-European solutions from the manufacturer through to the dealer, with all services being provided from a single source. ATG carries more than three million cars every year.
- Schenker's unit ATS Automotive Transports & Systems develops and operates intelligent road-related logistics solutions for supply and procurement deliveries and the shipment of original components. Schenker is the leading regional freight forwarder in material procurement for German production works.
- The Schenker unit LSS Logistics Solutions Services is a specialist in the stationary integrated management of flows of goods and information at the interface - as at supplier parks or supply centers. In addition, this unit also devises and controls global supply chains and the associated processes.
